Cedar Rapids Wins 99-0
Everything went right for the Headhunters as they left Grinnell with the first test match under their belt along side a 99-0 victory. As Cedar Rapids left Saturday morning there were plenty of new faces on the team and one big question remained, how will all of this work out? The score tells the story all by itself, everything worked out just fine. Old players and new players came together as one and Cedar Rapids had plenty of opportunities to work out cob webs from over the summer and find a new home for each of the new faces on the team. Man of the match in the pack went to Jeremy Daughtee with 5 tries on
the day. In the back line we had a different outcome, too many great things to have just one so all three players that are new with the club shared the "Man of the Match" award. Mike Yaeger, Mike England and the Matt. Matt's last name is unknown at this time but when you play like Matt who needs last names? A big thank you to the Grinnell team for hosting our club and for the good eats at the social following the game. After the match Shane Lloyd, the new Pack Captain asked how he felt about the day and he replied with the following, "It's great that we can come to Grinnell and get a match like this in the books, it's fun and that is what it is about. Next week will be the true test, Bremer always brings a strong side and I hope this score don't go to peoples head. We need guys at practice this week and work on getting ready for league play".
This upcoming weekend Cedar Rapids host the Bremer County Bucks at 1:30pm. Last fall in league play Bremer County was the Iowa Champions and Cedar Rapids was a close runner up. The Cedar Rapids home pitch was flooded a few months ago so where the match will be played is still being worked out.
